The IRS has released the 2017 optional standard mileage rates that may be used by employees, self-employed individuals, and other taxpayers when computing the deductible costs of operating an automobile (including cars, vans, pickups or panel trucks) for business, medical, moving or charitable purposes.
Business Mileage Rate
53.5 cents per mile for business miles driven.
Medical or Moving Mileage Rate
17 cents per mile driven for medical or moving purposes.
Charitable Organization Mileage Rate
14 cents per mile driven in service of charitable organizations.
